Miami defensive back Dylan Day delivered one of the most ferocious hits of the season during Saturday’s game against rival Florida State, and the play resulted in him being ejected.
Day absolutely leveled Florida State punt returner Squirrel White early in the fourth quarter at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. The Hurricanes were leading 28-3 at the time, and White tried to make something happen on a return rather than calling for a fair catch.
Day had a full head of steam and leveled White with a hit that probably could have been heard back in Coral Gables.

The play was reviewed for targeting, and officials determined that Day led with his helmet. The defensive back was ejected.
Florida State went on to score 19 points in the fourth quarter, so perhaps the hit energized the Seminoles. They came up just short in their comeback attempt and lost 28-22.
