Reports: Mike Bohn to be introduced as USC athletic director
USC appears to have finalized its hire of Mike Bohn as the school’s next athletic director.
The Trojans sent an alert to media members on Wednesday night telling them there would be a press conference at 10:00 am PT on Thursday morning to introduce the new athletic director. Though the alert did not mention Bohn by name, multiple reporters all said Bohn was the person who got the job.
Bohn was reported on Friday to have been nearing a deal with USC for the job. However, there have been reports in the last few days suggesting there might be a snag in the hire.
The LA Daily News’ Scott Wolf has said that Bohn wanted to be able to hire Urban Meyer and might back out if blocked from doing so. USC’s new president, Carol Folt, is said to be against such a hire as she looks to clean up the Trojans’ reputation.
Prior to Cincinnati, Bohn served as the AD at Colorado. He hired Luke Fickell for the Bearcats, which was a home run, but had three failed hires at Colorado with Dan Hawkins, Jon Embree, and Mike MacIntyre.
The big question is whether Bohn will eventually hire Meyer to replace Clay Helton.
