A set of rumors linking Brian Kelly to NFL jobs were pretty swiftly rejected by people in the Notre Dame coach’s camp on Wednesday.
A report emerged earlier in the day stating that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were interested in speaking to Kelly, sparking a lot of reaction on social media. The interest is reportedly not mutual, though, as Mike Berardino of the Indianapolis Star reported that the NFL was “not a consideration” for Kelly at this point.
I’m told “the #NFL is not a consideration” for #NotreDame coach Brian Kelly, per someone familiar with his thinking. That person would be “shocked” if Kelly made the jump after going 22-4 the past two seasons, including this year’s trip to #CFBPlayoff. Signed thru 2021.

Kelly’s name is linked to NFL openings every so often, and whenever it happens, the Fighting Irish coach issues the same response. It just doesn’t look like he has any interest in giving up the control and influence he has at a school as storied as Notre Dame to be an NFL head coach.
