Ohio State AD won’t lose spot on College Football Playoff committee

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has been suspended along with Urban Meyer for his missteps in handing allegations against a former assistant football coach, but it will apparently not cost him his spot on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
Smith was added to the committee in December 2017, and some feel his involvement in the scandal warrants him being removed. According to College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock, that is not going to happen.

Smith has been suspended without pay from Aug. 31 to Sept. 16, and some feel both he and Meyer received nothing more than a slap on the wrist. There were several revelations in the investigation into what Meyer and other staffers at Ohio State new, and a lot of the information reflects poorly on all parties involved.
Smith said Wednesday that he has “huge regret for my inability to be the effective leader I should have been.”
