Watch: Oklahoma onside kick recovery wiped out by illegal touching review
The Oklahoma Sooners rallied back from a 48-23 deficit against Kansas State on Saturday and very nearly gave themselves a chance to tie the game late, but got very unlucky with the onside kick.
The Sooners executed the kick almost perfectly down 48-41 with 1:45 left, and they recovered the ball to give themselves a chance to force overtime. However, there was some question whether the ball hit an Oklahoma player’s leg before it had gone ten yards, forcing a review.
The ruling that Oklahoma recovered was overturned after a second look, with an illegal touching ruling handed down instead.

It was an unfortunate break for the Sooners. There was no intent to touch the ball, but it hit the player’s knee, and that definitely helped it spin further downfield. In the end, it factored into Oklahoma’s first loss of the season, but it was that close.
