Report: Ole Miss player storm out of meeting about Matt Luke firing
Ole Miss surprised many by announcing on Sunday that they were firing Matt Luke as the football program’s head coach. The move apparently did not sit well with many of the program’s players.
The Clarion Ledger’s Nick Suss reported that at least 10 players stormed out of a meeting angry on Sunday. He says players are “really unhappy” about the firing.

Luke was said to be in the home of an Ole Miss commit when news of his firing broke.
Matt Luke was in the home of three-star #OleMiss commitment De'Rickey Wright when news broke. Wright, obviously, took it hard, but Luke advised him to stay patient and pray about his pledge. Say what you want about everything else, but Luke's always been a stand-up guy.

Luke took over a program that was under penalty from the NCAA due to violations under Hugh Freeze. He went 6-6, 5-7 and 4-8 in his three seasons as head coach.
