Paul Finebaum makes bold claim about Arch Manning

ESPN host Paul Finebaum made a bold claim about Arch Manning while talking on air Tuesday.

Finebaum was a guest on ESPN show “Get Up” and was asked about Manning. He was specifically asked about his expectations for the Texas Longhorns quarterback.

Finebaum said he believes Manning will be a Heisman Trophy finalist for the upcoming season.

“I think there’s a reasonably good chance that Arch Manning will be sitting on the front row of New York at the Heisman ceremony. That’s assuming that his team does what it’s supposed to do and compete for not only the SEC, but for the national championship. And I really believe they will,” Finebaum began.

Finebaum then went a step further and compared Manning to Tim Tebow.

“I believe also that Arch Manning is the best college quarterback we have seen since Tim Tebow entered the scene in 2006,” Finebaum concluded.

Tebow, of course, played at Florida from 2006-2009. He won the Heisman Trophy in his sophomore season in 2007, and helped the Gators win two national championships. Manning is entering his first full season as a starter. Asking him to win a Heisman Trophy and two national championships is a lot, but Finebaum thinks that’s where Manning could be heading.

Manning passed for 939 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions last season. He also rushed for 108 yards and 4 touchdowns. The year he won the Heisman Trophy, Tebow passed for 32 touchdowns and rushed for 23.
