Texas is using the bye week to prepare to face Oklahoma, and it sounds like their starting quarterback is planning to return for the big rivalry game.

Quinn Ewers practiced on Tuesday and took first-team reps for the Longhorns, Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com reports. A source told Richardson there is “no way” Ewers will miss the Oklahoma game.

“Quinn is playing [against Oklahoma]. No way he misses this game or the rest of the season. He wants to win the SEC and a Natty,” Richardson was told.

Ewers suffered an abdominal injury during Texas’ 56-7 win over UTSA two weeks ago. He was replaced by Arch Manning, who has played well over the last three games.

Manning started for Texas in blowout wins over Louisiana Monroe and Mississippi State. The redshirt freshman threw for 583 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions across the two games. Manning also had a rushing touchdown in Saturday’s 53-13 win over the Bulldogs.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian remained committed to Ewers all throughout the offseason, and Manning’s strong play and star power have not changed that. The Longhorns, who are now ranked No. 1 in the nation following Georgia’s loss to Alabama, still believe Ewers gives them the best chance to contend for a national title.

The Red River Rivalry is one of the fiercest rivalries in college football, and this is the first year Texas and Oklahoma will square off as members of the SEC. The Sooners beat the Longhorns 34-30 last year and have won five of the last six meetings.

Texas fans! Steve Sarkisian is the new head coach of the Longhorns and promising a high-octane offense. Show some support for the squad with this great All Gas No Brakes shirt. It makes a perfect gift for yourself or a friend. You can buy it here:
