Report: Redskins QB coach is UCLA’s top target for offensive coordinator

Chip Kelly appears to have a familiar name in mind to be his offensive coordinator at UCLA.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Sunday that Washington Redskins quarterbacks coach Kevin O’Connell is the Bruins’ top target for their OC job.

O’Connell, who is just 32 years old, is in his first season as Redskins QB coach. He was previously the quarterbacks coach of the Cleveland Browns and as well as an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers (where he served under Kelly). He has no prior coaching experience at the collegiate level, however.

A former NFL quarterback himself, O’Connell has also done some work with other Kelly disciples, so it sounds like he would make for a trusted hire.
