The crowd at the Penn State-Rutgers game disappeared by the end of the contest as the score and weather both turned ugly.
The announced crowd for the game was 51,366, but by the end, one could practically count the amount of fans remaining at the game late in the fourth quarter.

A big reason why the crowd seemed so sparse is because it started to hail, which led to a fan exodus:

Few fans would want to sit through that weather when their team is getting shutout. Penn State won 39-0 to drop Rutgers to 2-9 and 0-8 in conference.
Make sure you don’t confuse Rutgers fans for having a lack of passion; they came out strong for the “Battle at the Birthplace” wrestling match against Princeton earlier in the day.
