Scott Frost admitted he thought UCF would lose to Auburn

Scott Frost

Outgoing UCF coach Scott Frost told his players after their Peach Bowl win that he didn’t quite expect their success.

The school released a video of Frost’s postgame speech to his players following the 34-27 win over Auburn, and he admitted to his players that, given the distraction and awkwardness surrounding his impending departure for Nebraska, he hadn’t expected them to win the game.

“Coming back and trying to help you win this thing, if I’m keeping it it real, I didn’t think we had a damn chance because of all the circumstances surrounding it,” Frost told his team, via Roger Simmons of the Orlando Sentinel. “But you guys found way to dial it in, you found a way to play harder than them.”

The Knights played with a chip on their shoulder — one that they still have. That clearly outweighed the weirdness of Frost coaching the team even after he and his staff had decided to move on to Nebraska.
