Shawn Oakman reportedly investigated for sexual assault

Shawn Oakman

NFL Draft prospect Shawn Oakman is being investigated for alleged sexual assault, according to multiple reports.

Oakman, who played defensive end at Baylor and recorded 4.5 sacks last season, is accused of sexually assaulting a fellow Baylor student early Sunday morning, the Waco Tribune reports.

According to the Tribune, a police affidavit states that the woman says she met Oakman at a club Saturday night and he asked if she wanted to go back to his place.

The Tribune shares more from the affidavit:

“They walked to the nearby duplex and the player “forced” her into a bedroom, according to the affidavit.

He “forcibly removed” the woman’s clothes, “forced” her onto the bed and sexually assaulted her, the affidavit alleges.”

You can see the affidavit here:

The woman accusing Oakman of sexual assault went to the hospital after the alleged assault and was examined for potential signs of sexual assault. Oakman’s residence was combed for any potential signs of evidence.

When asked by the Tribune for comment, Oakman played ignorant.

“I don’t know what you are talking about,” he told the Waco Tribune.

This is the latest allegation of sexual assault facing a former Baylor football player. Former Bears defensive end Tevin Elliott was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2014 for his 2012 sexual assault of a female student. Three other people accused him of sexual assault. Last August, former Bears defensive lineman Sam Ukwuachu was convicted of sexual assault for a 2013 incident.

Oakman was likely to be a middle-round pick in the upcoming draft, but this matter certainly will change his future. At 6-foot-8 and nearly 290 pounds, his massive size caught the attention of many teams. But in addition to this alleged sexual assault, Oakman was dismissed from Penn State’s program by Bill O’Brien over academics and other off-field issues.
