Sherrone Moore shares his first reaction to being named Michigan head coach
Sherrone Moore on Friday was named the next head football coach at Michigan. The new Wolverines head coach has already reacted to the announcement via social media.
“So blessed to be apart (sic) of this great University! Excited to continue to what we have built!” Moore wrote on X.

Moore also promoted his mantra — “smash.”
“Smash” is something Moore has chanted when firing up his team. It has to do with what he wants his offensive line/offense to do — smash their opponents.

Moore served as co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach for the Wolverines during the national championship season in 2023. He also filled in for Jim Harbaugh as Michigan’s acting head coach for four games and went 4-0.
Michigan knew there was a good chance Harbaugh would leave for the NFL after the season. They had been working on a backup plan in the case Harbaugh left, and they put it into action on Friday with the announcement of Moore as the program’s 21st head coach.
