Texas Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his shoulder injury.
Ehlinger left Saturday’s win over Baylor during the Longhorns’ first possession due to a shoulder injury. He said on the sidelines that his shoulder was messed up.
Herman said when Sam went to the sideline to get the blood cleaned off his hand, he came up to him and said, “My shoulder is messed up. My shoulder is messed up.”

Texas head coach Tom Herman said after the game that Ehlinger has an AC sprain and will get the MRI to make sure there is no ligament damage.
Herman on Sam Ehlinger’s shoulder injury:
“He’s got a AC sprain on his throwing shoulder. We will get an MRI to make sure there is no ligament damage.”Herman says after some rest and treatment, Sam should be throwing the ball at the end of the week.

The good news for Texas is that Ehlinger could be throwing by the end of the week.
Shane Buechele stepped in at quarterback and went 20/34 for 184 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He is a capable option if Texas needs him to continue filling in at quarterback, but he does not offer the same threat as Ehlinger as a rusher.
The 6-1 Longhorns are off next weekend and face Oklahoma State on Oct. 27.
