Texas QB Sam Ehlinger’s family has a crazy weekend of travel ahead
Being the parents of elite athletes is not always easy, and the weekend of travel that Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger’s family has ahead is a prime example of that.
Ehlinger, of course, will be looking to lead the Longhorns to a Big 12 title in their game against Oklahoma on Saturday. But as Zach Barnett of Football Scoop notes, he isn’t the only member of the Ehlinger family with a big game this weekend. Sam’s younger brother, Jake, is playing in a playoff game on Friday night with his high school in Corpus Christi.
Assuming the Ehlingers want to watch both Jake and Sam play, here’s what their Friday/Saturday travel schedule looks like:
The Ehlinger family has quite a weekend ahead of them.
Jake, a linebacker at Westlake High School, has a playoff game at 7:30 tonight in Corps Christi.

Champagne problems, right?
Rather than drive six-plus hours overnight, the Ehlinger family could always hop on a flight. That might be a better option in this scenario, but we’re sure they have all that figured out. Whatever they decide to do, the exchanges Sam has had with Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray are a good reminder than Saturday’s game can’t be missed. The Ehlingers will almost certainly find a way to be at both.
