Texas Tech WR kicked off team after second arrest of offseason
Texas Tech wide receiver Quan Shorts was dismissed from the team on Thursday following an arrest for marijuana possession, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury was likely so quick to act because it was not Shorts’ first run-in with the law this offseason.
According to a statement from the Lubbock Police Department, Shorts was arrested at an apartment complex where officers were present as part of an ongoing investigation. Getting kicked off a team for marijuana possession may sound harsh, but Thursday’s arrest was the 21-year-old’s second in the last three months.
Shorts was one of four Texas Tech players who were arrested on criminal charges back in March. He was charged with disorderly conduct and the players were initially suspended indefinitely, though no formal charges were ever filed in the case.
