Theo Von cashed in on quite the wager after Vanderbilt’s streak-snapping win over South Carolina, and the renowned comedian is ready to claim his winnings.
Von was in attendance as Vanderbilt ended a 16-game winless run against South Carolina on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. The unranked Commodores entered the contest as serious underdogs against the No. 11 Gamecocks. But the roles were reversed once it began, as Vanderbilt dominated South Carolina in a 31-7 affair.
The SEC Network interviewed Von during the broadcast after catching wind of a promise Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia made to him before the contest. According to Von, Pavia would give his seal of approval for the podcaster to date his mom, Antoinette Padilla.
On Saturday, Von sounded a little apprehensive about taking Pavia’s offer. But based on Von’s social media activity on Sunday, he may have warmed up to the idea. He posted a photo of Pavia’s mom with a heart drawn around her.
“where should i take her??” Von captioned the post.

Given how Pavia played against South Carolina, the Vanderbilt QB looked plenty motivated to get Von a shot to woo his mom. The senior went 18/25 for 177 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception in the victory.
Von previously expressed hesitation because he preferred being Pavia’s friend over the prospect of becoming his stepdad. But at 45 years old, Von may now believe he can mentor the 24-year-old Pavia through young adulthood as a father figure. Either that, or he’s particularly infatuated by the QB’s mother.
