UCLA redshirt freshman walk-on wide receiver Nick Pasquale died early Sunday morning after being hit by a car in his hometown of San Clemente, Calif.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department listed the news on their website and says the incident occurred at 1:27 am Sunday morning on Camino De Los Mares, west of Calle Nuevo. Pasquale was a pedestrian and hit by a car. The sheriff’s department says an investigation is ongoing.

The San Clemente Times says they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the 20-year-old’s death.

Pasquale was a two-way player at San Clemente High School. According to his Max Preps profile, he scored 14 touchdowns during his varsity career as a rusher and receiver, and he had six interceptions and 89 tackles. He did not see action last season with the Bruins during his redshirt season.

Our thoughts are with Pasquale’s friends and family.
