New Washington QB has already hit the transfer portal
Kalen DeBoer leaving Washington for Alabama has already had an impact on the Huskies’ football program.
Transfer quarterback Will Rogers has re-entered the transfer portal to weigh his options. According to 247 Sports, Rogers could still return to Washington depending on whom they hire.
Will Rogers entered the portal to keep his options open as the Washington coaching search plays out and due to school enrollment deadlines, according to a source close to the QB.

Rogers was a four-year starter at Mississippi State. He is coming off a down season in which he had just 1,626 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions over 8 games. But Rogers put up huge numbers in the late Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense in 2021 and 2022. Rogers threw for 8,713 yards, 71 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his sophomore and junior seasons combined.
Rogers would be a highly desired quarterback for many schools, though several programs have already added transfers. Though DeBoer’s presence was likely a huge factor in Rogers’ decision to transfer to Washington, it may be worth Rogers’ while to wait and see whom the Huskies hire before he leaves. Recall, Jake Haener nearly left Fresno State to follow DeBoer back to Washington in 2022, but he stayed with the Bulldogs after Jeff Tedford was hired. Sometimes it makes sense to wait things out.
