Like much of America, Aaron Rodgers stayed up Tuesday night to watch the events of the presidential election unfold. Unlike many, he appeared on a few ballots.
Rodgers’ popularity is understandably high, especially in Wisconsin, as he’s among the best quarterbacks in NFL and one of the faces of the league. Combine that with the fact that some weren’t particularly enthused about Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump becoming the next president and you get the Packers quarterback being a write-in choice by voters.
“I just want to thank all the voters out there who did vote for me,” Rodgers said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I know for some people it was between me and Harambe. I think I finished second in that vote.”
Harambe was a gorilla that was shot and killed at the Cincinnati Zoo after a child fell into its enclosure.
With the news Trump will be the next commander-in-chief has come protests across the country. It might not be much of a stretch to say those voicing their displeasure over the election results believe Rodgers would do a better job in the Oval Office.
