One San Francisco 49ers player has managed to get suspended over four months before the start of the new season.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that 49ers offensive lineman Isaac Alarcon has been suspended for six games without pay to start the 2025 campaign. Alarcon’s suspension is for a violation of league policy on performance-enhancing substances, the release added.

Alarcon, 26, stands 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds. He is part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and has been with the 49ers for over a year now, having signed multiple reserve/future contracts with them (though Alarcon still has yet to see any game action for San Francisco).

After going undrafted in 2020, Alarcon was signed by the Dallas Cowboys. Though originally an offensive tackle all along, Alarcon briefly changed positions to defensive tackle in 2023. Still, Alarcon got waived by Dallas before the beginning of the regular season that year without appearing in a single game for them either. Now Alarcon has been back to playing as an offensive tackle for the 49ers.

Having finished at 6-11 last year, San Francisco has undergone significant turnover this offseason. Mainstays like Deebo Samuel, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward, and Dre Greenlaw are all no longer on the team while other talented players could soon be on their out of town as well.

Meanwhile, Alarcon, who was expected to provide some depth behind starting right tackle Colton McKivitz now becomes the latest player to be suspended under the NFL’s PED policy (which has been the subject of controversy in recent months).
