Dr. Anthony Fauci’s side has fired back at Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers after the latter’s controversial comments against the former top U.S. health official.
According to Saad Yousuf of The Athletic, David Schertler, Fauci’s attorney, responded to Rodgers’ comments during the four-time NFL MVP’s recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, essentially telling the quarterback to stay in his lane.
“Aaron Rodgers doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He should stick to football,” Schertler wrote in an email.
Rodgers famously refused to get COVID-19 vaccine during the 2021 season, and opted to take an alternative path to treat the disease. That same season, he won his fourth NFL MVP award.
During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers took blatant shots at Fauci, calling him an “absolute coward” after the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times during a Senate hearing on COVID-19 last week.
It remains to be seen whether Rodgers would have a rebuttal to that statement from Fauci’s attorney. Either way, it’s clear what he truly feels about the COVID-19 vaccine and Fauci. What is not, however, is whether the 41-year-old quarterback has enough gas left in the tank to lead the Steelers to the top.
