Despite hinting at retirement after another bad kicking performance on Sunday, Adam Vinatieri’s future remains unclear 24 hours later.
Vinatieri, who had suggested he’d talk to reporters Monday despite not being made available to the media, left the Indianapolis Colts’ complex without speaking. Rumors of a press conference also proved untrue, and a decision on the kicker’s future appears unlikely to come Monday.
For everyone waiting on Adam Vinatieri news:
Just saw Vinny walk out and leave the #Colts complex. It’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon and he’s gone. Whatever the future holds, it’s not looking a press conference is happening today.@BenReiff @WTHRcom

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio had reported Sunday night that Vinatieri was likely leaning toward retirement, but the Colts had hoped to talk him out of it.
Just said on NBC that it’s safe to assume Adam Vinatieri is leaning toward retirement. However the Colts aren’t throwing in the towel. They want him to stay. Final decision is expected by tomorrow afternoon.

Vinatieri missed two extra points Sunday, continuing a horrible start to his season. He promptly sparked rumors of his impending retirement, but given the lack of announcement, it’s entirely possible the Colts have convinced the 46-year-old to at least reconsider.
