Adrian Peterson to visit with Patriots

Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson will take a free agent visit on Monday, and it’s one that will send some shudders throughout the NFL.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Peterson will be visiting with the New England Patriots.

Peterson is a free agent and has been on the market since free agency began early last month. The Minnesota Vikings declined his $18 million option for 2017 and then signed Latavius Murray to replace him.

The Pats have been busy adding weapons throughout the offseason, and they even previously signed RB Rex Burkhead. But his rushing style is much different than Peterson’s, as All Day is a workhorse and not a scat-back.

The Patriots have previously acquired talented players when other teams were afraid to and gotten the most out of them, such as LeGarrette Blount, Corey Dillon, or Randy Moss in the past. Could Peterson be next in line on that list?

The 32-year-old has visited with the Seahawks but did not sign with them. Other teams he has been linked to include the Raiders, Bucs and Giants, though it seems there was more interest on Peterson’s end than the other way around.

Peterson has previously explained what he is looking for in a new team in this Twitter post. As the defending Super Bowl champs, the Pats would fit that bill.
