AJ Green frustrated by lack of targets on final drive

AJ Green

The Cincinnati Bengals failed to score a touchdown for the second consecutive game as they lost at home to the Houston Texas 13-9 on Thursday night. A.J. Green seemed to be frustrated afterwards about the lack of passes he saw on the Bengals’ final drive.

Cincinnati was down 13-9 following a Texans field goal and got the ball at their 31 with 1:50 left. They needed a touchdown to win the game. They got the ball as far as the 49 before being taken back five yards by a penalty and eventually turning it over on downs.

On their final drive, Andy Dalton threw five passes, but none to Green.

After the game, Green spoke about the need to get the “playmakers” the ball. It wasn’t hard to conclude he was talking about himself.

Green led the team with five catches for 67 yards, but most of that came on a 50-yard bomb. Alex Erickson was the receiver Cincinnati targeted most often on their final drive.

Even if Green was facing extra coverage, he has proven multiple times in the past that he can still make plays. Dalton probably should have done more to get him the ball.
