Alex Smith left the Kansas City Chiefs’ game in Indianapolis on Sunday for the second time after taking a hit to the head. The second one looked even worse than the first, and he was later ruled out with a concussion.
Smith had his head bounced off the playing surface at Lucas Oil Stadium in the third quarter like a basketball and left the game:

Smith walked into the locker room after that brutal hit and was replaced by Nick Foles.
Earlier in the game, Smith’s helmet also hit the turf hard and he left the game before returning:
Smith was evaluated for a concussion but was cleared to return and did so in the second quarter. He had a cut on his ear after that play.
The second hit seemed even worse and indeed resulted in a concussion diagnosis.
