Amazon reportedly closing in on its big-name broadcast team

Amazon has courted some very big names to join its “Thursday Night Football” broadcast team, and they appear to be on the verge of settling on their pairing.

Kirk Herbstreit has officially agreed to terms with Amazon to be the network’s game analyst, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post. The network also appears to be set to land a huge play-by-play name, as Marchand reports that efforts to land Al Michaels to do play-by-play are at the “half-yard line.” Marchand added in a separate tweet that he expects Michaels to land with Amazon when all is said and done.

Michaels will certainly give Amazon instant credibility, while Herbstreit is well-known to viewers. The pairing has not worked together before, but both voices will be quite familiar to anyone watching.

Michaels has seemingly been Amazon’s top choice all along. However, the company was very ambitious in seeking a partner for him. Herbstreit was not the first choice, but he should fit the role well.
