Andrew Luck reportedly out until at least December

Andrew Luck

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck suffered a setback with his surgically-repaired shoulder this week, and as a result he is not expected to play meaningful football for at least another month.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Luck’s potential return has likely been pushed back to December. While speculation has begun growing that Luck may not play at all in 2017, La Canfora was told the Colts are “committed” to seeing him back on the field this season.

Luck had returned to practice recently, but he needed a cortisone shot in his shoulder after feeling some soreness. His activity will be limited for the next two weeks before he returns to the schedule the Colts originally had planned for him.

Considering he will likely need to practice in full for at least two or three weeks before he’s ready to play in an actual game again, Luck has little chance of playing in November.

Luck has clearly come along a lot slower than the Colts expected him to. If they knew he would be out through Week 7 and likely beyond, they would have placed him on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list to start the season. The fact that they did not means they were hopeful the quarterback would return sooner.
