Report: Andrew Luck dealing with partial separation of shoulder

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to return Thursday night to face the Houston Texans, but that does not mean his shoulder injury is zero cause for concern.

Chris Hagan of Indy Sports Central reports that Luck has consulted at least three out-of-state doctors and is dealing with a partial separation of his throwing shoulder, also known as a sublaxation.

Hagan adds that doctors are “concerned” about Luck’s labrum, which can be tough to examine with an MRI with this particular type of injury. However, Ian Rapoport is reporting that Luck is experiencing some soreness from the separation but no structural damage.

The main concerns for Luck are pain and arm strength, which sounds similar to what Drew Brees was dealing with after he suffered a shoulder injury on this play. Brees ended up missing one game and played well in a win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night. The Colts are hoping the results with Luck are similar.
