Report: Andrew Luck’s arm strength is almost back to pre-injury form

Andrew Luck
Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich gave fans some great news on Wednesday when he said he expects Andrew Luck to play in the team’s preseason opener on Aug. 9, and apparently there is good reason for the optimism.

Luck has only thrown lightly in front of the media this offseason and was even seen throwing balls that were smaller than official NFL-sized balls at one point, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he has “let loose” in practice and his arm is almost back to full strength.

One note on #Colts QB Andrew Luck: Sounds like he’s really amped up the throwing, firing several balls in practice. While media has only seen him throw lightly, he has let loose. And, as far as arm strength, he’s close to where he was pre-injury.

The Colts aren’t going to take any chances with Luck after what happened last year, so the fact that he is on schedule to play in an exhibition game in just two weeks is a great sign. Reich’s update is consistent with what we heard from a member of the Colts’ front office recently, so it sounds as though Luck has not experienced any setbacks.

Colts fans will continue to hold their breath until they see Luck in full pads practicing without limitations, but he is clearly on the right track.
