Antonio Cromartie shrugs off getting continuously burned by Eric Decker in practice

Antonio-Cromartie

For established veterans, training camp is less about proving themselves and more about shaking off the rust and not getting hurt. Ten year veteran Antonio Cromartie certainly falls into that category. However, it sounds as though he has been chasing down Erick Decker quite frequently in practices thus far.

Decker has, apparently, been burning Cromartie on a regular basis so far in camp, enough that the cornerback was recently asked about it. Not surprisingly, Cromartie shrugged it off as no big deal.

“I’m not really worried about anything that’s going on right now,” Cromartie said via the NY Daily News. “I’m looking forward to when those lights turn on and you go play football from there.”

“This is really not even training camp,” Cromartie said. “I don’t know what it is. I’m used to having two-a-days. Two-a-days was fun. It weaned out the guys that was not mentally strong.”

One way to analyze the situation would be to say Decker has looked great in practice, which would obviously bode well for the Jets offense. Another could be that, at 31-years-old, Cromartie has a lost a step or two. I guess it depends if you’re a glass half full or half empty kind of person.

Cromartie’s explanation of concentrating on working on his technique is also certainly possible. We’ll take his word for it, for now.
