Arian Foster not yet listed as Dolphins starting RB
Arian Foster has looked healthy at Miami Dolphins training camp less than a year after suffering a torn Achilles, but he has apparently not done enough to win the team’s starting tailback job yet.
Armando Salguero provided a breakdown of Miami’s first official depth chart on Monday, and second-year running back Jay Ajayi is listed as the starting running back. Foster is on the second team for the time being with Damien Williams behind him.
Of course, a depth chart before the first preseason game means very little. While this could be an indication that the Dolphins like what they see from Ajayi, they could also be waiting to see if Foster is healthy enough to take on a starting role.
Ajayi appeared in just nine games for the Dolphins last season and averaged 3.8 yards per carry. He took a back seat to Lamar Miller, who is now with the Texans, but Miami’s play-calling was brutal. Given the early reports we have heard about Foster, the Dolphins might be wise to feature a heavy dose of both him and Ajayi this year. That would take a lot of pressure off Ryan Tannehill.
