Baker Mayfield reportedly very involved in Browns’ interview process
The Cleveland Browns know their next coach will have to guide Baker Mayfield into the ranks of the NFL’s elite quarterback, so it’s no surprise that they gave him some say in their new coach.
According to Pat McManamon of ESPN, the Browns went out of their way to involve Mayfield in the interview process, going as far as to FaceTime their young quarterback into interviews with potential hires.
The Browns ultimately hired Freddie Kitchens, who was promoted to offensive coordinator after Hue Jackson’s midseason firing. The Browns’ offense thrived under Kitchens, and he and Mayfield seemed to have an excellent relationship. It’s no coincidence that Cleveland stuck with what was working, and it would be no surprise if Mayfield had a say in the fact that they did just that.
