Bashaud Breeland was arrested at a gas station in South Carolina on Tuesday, and video footage from the incident shows that the Kansas City Chiefs cornerback had a gun drawn on him after not cooperating with police.
A witness shared cell phone video with TMZ, and the footage shows Breeland arguing with an officer and seemingly refusing to comply with orders. Breeland repeatedly pulled his hands away from the officer when the officer was trying to place him in handcuffs. The 28-year-old then got in his car, at which point the officer drew his gun and ordered Breeland to get out. Here’s the video:
The officer says he confronted Breeland after he saw the Chiefs cornerback and two other people smoking marijuana. He says Breeland became combative when he questioned him.
Breeland is facing multiple drug- and alcohol-related charges from the incident. Attorneys representing him issued a statement this week hinting that they believe police used unnecessary force.
