Report: Bears assessing future of coach John Fox
Changes could be coming to the 1-6 Chicago Bears.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears hierarchy is assessing all facets of the team, including head coach John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace.
Pace is viewed as the safer of the two, with the team believing that two years is not enough time for him to have proven his worth as general manager. Fox appears to be on shakier ground, with his future beyond the 2016 season described by Rapoport as “shaky.”
A source said there were “intense meetings” between the front office and coaching staff during the week, with the two sides not always seeing eye-to-eye.
Nothing has gone right for the Bears in 2016. They haven’t played well, they’ve dealt with injuries, and the Jay Cutler saga has again been a distraction. It’s no real surprise that Fox’s position is at least being considered.
