The Chicago Bears announced on Monday that they have hired former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be their next head coach.

Nagy, a former quarterback who played in the Arena Football League, had been with the Chiefs in an assistant coaching role since 2011. He spent three seasons as the team’s quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2016.
It’s no surprise that the Bears decided to go with Nagy, as all indications were that they were looking for an offensive-minded coach who can help develop Mitchell Trubisky. The Bears invested a lot in Trubisky when they traded up in the first round to draft him, and the rookie struggled under John Fox this season.
