Perhaps the Chicago Bears are paying tribute to Brian Urlacher this offseason by assembling a Murderers’ Row of linebacker talent.
On Saturday, the team announced the signing of inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman to a three-year deal.

Freeman, the longtime Indianapolis Colt, is coming off a stellar 2015 campaign where he recorded 112 tackles, three sacks, and an interception. The 29-year-old adds to an already impressive linebacker brigade for the Bears after the signing of Danny Trevathan to complement an incumbent core featuring the likes of Pernell McPhee, Lamarr Houston, and Christian Jones.
The Bears graded out as the 14th-best defense in the NFL last year by total yards allowed, per ESPN. Now armed with frighteningly-revamped group of players in the middle of the field, expect that ranking to rise under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s scheme next season.
