The Cincinnati Bengals have immortalized one wide receiver’s career milestone for the world to see.
Dohnte Meyers, who went undrafted in 2023, officially made the Bengals’ 53-man roster on Sunday, just weeks before the start of the 2026 season. Cincinnati’s social media team captured the heartfelt moment when wide receivers coach Troy Walters hopped on a video call to share the news with the 26-year-old wideout.
“I get to tell a guy who worked out for us last December, came from the Canadian League, and then we signed in February,” Walters told Meyers. “He showed up in April, spent hours in the coach’s office studying the playbook, but made enough plays throughout spring to get the attention of coaches, the quarterbacks, and other players.
“When the preseason games came, he made plays in the preseason. I just want to personally tell you congratulations for making the 53-man roster. Your hard work, everything paid off, man.”

Walters had Meyers sweating a little before revealing the good news, initially calling it a “bittersweet” moment. But there wasn’t anything for Meyers to be bitter about upon learning he’d been included on the Bengals’ roster.
Joe Burrow likely put in a good word for Meyers, who impressed the Bengals QB during an unscheduled throwing session before training camp. Meyers had agreed to a last-minute workout with Burrow and drove seven hours from Atlanta to Cincinnati to make it in time. Burrow only found out the distance Meyers covered once the two were face to face.

Meyers had an unconventional journey to the NFL. He played college football at Division I Presbyterian and Division II Delta before going undrafted in 2023. He then signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL.
Meyers drew NFL interest after a breakout 2025 campaign in which he tallied 65 catches for 1,056 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Roughriders. The Bengals signed him to a futures contract in February that turned into a full-blown NFL deal six months later.
