Bill Belichick appears to have legitimate interest in joining at least one NFL team.

Belichick will have a second interview with the Atlanta Falcons this upcoming weekend, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. Belichick has already met one-on-one with Falcons owner Arthur Blank, and Rapoport said things are “ramping up” between the two sides.

Belichick has been linked to the Falcons for quite some time. They were the only team that one NFL insider named after Belichick and the New England Patriots announced last week that they had parted ways.

The Belichick watch became a lot more interesting after the Dallas Cowboys were blown out by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but the Cowboys have decided to stick with head coach Mike McCarthy.

Belichick was also named as a potential candidate for another team that had a disappointing end to the season, but it does not sound like there will be a head coach vacancy there, either.

At 71, Belichick would be the oldest head coach in the NFL next season, assuming 72-year-old Pete Carroll does not land another job. There has been no talk of Belichick retiring, however. He is just 15 wins shy of breaking Don Shula’s record of 347 combined regular-season and playoff victories for an NFL coach. All indications have been that he plans to pursue that record.
