Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback for the Jets when they face the Ravens this weekend and a member of the Jets delivered a great quote about how Smith has arrived at this point.
Smith was slated to be the starter heading into last season. Then, the incident with IK Enemkpali happened. That presented Ryan Fitzpatrick an opportunity, which he held onto for the season. After a lengthy negotiation battle, Fitzpatrick re-signed with New York on a one-year deal. However, with the team 1-5 and Fitzpatrick leading the NFL in interceptions with 11, head coach Todd Bowles felt it was time for a change.
Among those glad to see Smith get another chance is Brandon Marshall, who had a lighthearted way of describing Smith overcoming adversity.

Brandon Marshall on Geno Smith: "It’s been amazing to see this guy grow and really punch adversity in the face."

Can see how it could be read that way, but I think he was poking fun at the situation, not Geno. https://t.co/u1JqdU2psy

The last time Smith started a game was the Jets’ final game of the 2014 season. In that game, Smith completed 20-of-25 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns against the Dolphins. Based on that, and the final four games of that season, it’s not hard to see why he was expected to be the starter in 2015. Smith has only appeared in two games since then. That said, considering Fitzpatrick’s body of work so far this season, it’s time to see if Smith can regain that form.
