Brian Daboll answers whether Giants could bench Daniel Jones
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones made some big mistakes in Monday night’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but none of them are going to cost him his job — at least in the immediate future.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll told reporters on Tuesday that Jones will remain the team’s starting quarterback heading into Week 9.
Daboll confirmed that QB Daniel Jones and CB Deonte Banks will remain in their starting roles.

Jones finished 24/38 for 264 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in New York’s 26-18 loss to Pittsburgh. He has now gone three consecutive games without throwing a touchdown pass and has 6 touchdowns compared to 5 interceptions on the season.
Daboll called Jones out after Monday’s game for making one huge mistake late. The coach also said Jones took accountability for the blunder.
Jones was benched for Drew Lock early in the fourth quarter last week. Daboll quickly made it clear that decision was only related to the lopsided score, however.
If Jones cannot turn things around, he will almost certainly be benched at some point. While Jones is far from the only problem the 2-6 Giants have, he has once again failed to live up to the expectations that accompany a quarterback who makes $40 million per year.
