The New York Giants may already be considering a quarterback change after a poor Week 1 performance.
Giants coach Brian Daboll passed on multiple opportunities to commit to Russell Wilson as his Week 2 starter at quarterback after the team’s 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. Daboll said he had “confidence” in Wilson and that the loss was not down to the quarterback, but deferred on the question of whether Wilson was his starter next week.

Benching Wilson after a week might seem rushed, but the Giants were very poor on offense Sunday. Wilson went just 17/37 for 168 yards, and the team as a whole tallied only 231 yards. The unit only made it into the red zone twice all day.
The situation is complicated by the presence of rookie Jaxson Dart. Dart had an impressive preseason to win the No. 2 quarterback job, and that has a lot of fans calling on Daboll to make the change and see what Dart can offer. Daboll could also be coaching for his job this season, which could create an additional sense of urgency.
The Giants face the Dallas Cowboys on the road in Week 2. In all likelihood, Wilson will get the start, but the pressure to make a change will really crank up if he puts together another poor performance.
