The Cleveland Browns cut linebacker Mychal Kendricks on Wednesday, the same day news that he was facing charges of insider trading went public.
So what was the reason for the team’s release of Kendricks? GM John Dorsey says that Kendricks misled them about the case, telling the team he was a victim.
GM John Dorsey says #Browns misled prior to acquisition of Mychal Kendricks, that “We were told Mychal had fully cooperated with investigators as a victim.” After LB charged w/ securities fraud today, “We are now dealing with a different set of facts,” Dorsey says.

This jibes with a report from earlier in the day about Kendricks.
Kendricks had signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with Cleveland after spending his previous five seasons with the Eagles. Kendricks allegedly grew an investment account at an astronomical rate, which triggered an investigation.
