Report: Browns refused to pay for staff Senior Bowl trip, Super Bowl tickets

The Cleveland Browns continue to show why they’re regarded as one of the worst organizations in football.

According to Peter King’s MMQB column, the Browns refused to pay to send their outgoing coaches to the Senior Bowl to network for new jobs, and initially told them they would not be allowed to purchase two tickets to the Super Bowl, which is a customary perk for players and coaches.

King notes that the Browns ultimately went back and offered up the Super Bowl tickets, but any Browns coaches who wish to get to the Senior Bowl still have to pay their own way. The refusals not only applied to recently released coaches, but coaches who remain on staff and have over a year remaining on their contracts.

The Browns are going to be hiring a new coach and general manager this offseason, and while I’m sure they think they have their reasons, this isn’t going to be a good look. It’s not like the franchise has a good sales pitch even without this. They’ve already had to turn to a baseball executive to run their football team, so who knows what’s next?
