Caleb Williams officially announces NFL Draft decision
USC quarterback Caleb Williams has made it official: he is heading to the NFL.
Williams announced Monday that he is officially declaring for the NFL Draft. The likely No. 1 pick added a lengthy message in which he thanked his family and friends, as well as USC and Oklahoma, where he played collegiately.
“I still have a lot to learn and I’m ready to do whatever it takes,” Williams wrote. “As a kid, I said this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life, but I didn’t work this hard just to reach this point. I will continue my journey to make that little kid proud of the man I will be for many years to come.”
Williams’ decision is hardly a surprise, but it is notable that he has made it official. Before the season, his father floated the possibility of him coming back for one more season if he did not like his potential NFL Draft landing spot. That obviously never came to pass.
The Chicago Bears landed the first pick thanks to last year’s trade with Carolina. They have a quarterback, but they are clearly going to give Williams a very long look between now and April.
