Cam Newton surprises boy with cancer at Halloween party
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had a big surprise for a 10-year-old boy battling cancer.
Elijah Hughes has a rare form of cancer. His favorite holiday is Halloween, but with doctors unsure he’ll survive until October 31, his Concord, N.C. neighborhood hosted an early Halloween block party for him on Friday night, according to WCNC.
Elijah is an Auburn fan, and Newton got wind of this and crashed the block party. The quarterback called in an ice cream truck and posed for pictures and spent the evening hanging out with Elijah and over a hundred of his friends, much to the delight of everyone present.

“As a mom it absolutely melts your heart,” said Elijah’s mom Becky, per WCNC. “It brings tears to my eyes.”
It sounds like everybody had a night to remember, and kudos to Newton for taking time out to make the occasion an even more memorable one.
