Cam Newton had a minor incident with T.J. Ward during the second quarter of Thursday night’s season-opening game.
The Carolina Panthers were facing a 3rd-and-6 situation with 11:20 left in the first half when Newton didn’t like what he saw and called a timeout.
Ward, a safety for the Broncos, apparently was pumping up the Denver crowd, and Newton didn’t appreciate that. As he walked by Ward, he gave a little shove:
Nothing resulted from the scuffle, but the incident is just another sign of how chippy things can get between these teams.
