The Arizona Cardinals are bracing themselves for at least a week without Kyler Murray.

Murray has been dealing with a mid-foot sprain throughout the week, which has put his status for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts in jeopardy. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are gearing up for backup QB Jacoby Brissett to start in place of Murray.

Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett is expected to start Sunday in place of Kyler Murray, who is dealing with a foot injury, per me and @JFowlerESPN.

The Cardinals have a 2-3 record heading into their Week 6 matchup against the 4-1 Colts, who have been one of the biggest surprises of the young season.

Arizona is reportedly still “leaving the door open” in case Murray’s injury drastically improves in the hours leading up to the Week 6 contest. But preparations have already begun for Brissett to take the reins for at least this week, with a “possibility” of a multi-week absence for Murray.

The Oklahoma alum has thrown for 962 yards with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions through the first five weeks of the 2025 NFL campaign.

Murray has been Arizona’s starting quarterback since the team drafted him first overall in 2019. The seven-year NFL veteran has a valid reason for hoping to extend his run with the Cardinals until at least 2028.
