Case Keenum evaluated for concussion, replaced by Dwayne Haskins
Dwayne Haskins was on the field when the Washington Redskins’ offense took the field at the start of the second half Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings, which caught many by surprise. The reason the rookie entered the game is because starter Case Keenum entered concussion protocol.
FOX’s broadcasting crew was unsure when the possible concussion might have occurred, but they played a video clip of a play from the first half where Keenum’s head hit the turf hard.
Washington has been reluctant to play Haskins all season despite making him a first-round pick in the draft. Whether it was Jay Gruden or Bill Callahan as head coach, reports have said the team did not feel Haskins was ready to play.
This is Haskins’ second appearance this season. He was 9/17 for 107 yards and three interceptions in a 24-3 Week 4 loss to the Giants.
Keenum was 12/16 for 130 yards and lost one fumble during the first half.
