Case Keenum will remain Redskins’ starting QB

Case Keenum

Despite a somewhat ugly performance in a mud-filled loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon, the Washington Redskins will continue to ride things out with Case Keenum as their starting quarterback.

Interim head coach Bill Callahan informed reporters on Monday morning that Keenum will remain under center while first-round rookie Dwayne Haskins continues to ride pine in what has turned out to be a completely lost season.

“We still have a lot of faith in Case and his ability,” Callahan via NBC Sports Washington.

It’s entirely possible the Redskins are sticking with Keenum simply because of their quick turnaround — they play the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night in Week 8. After that, they could finally insert Haskins as their starter and close out the season with him gaining as much valuable experience as possible.

Whatever the case may be, Redskins fans aren’t likely to be too keen on Keenum being the guy for one more week. They are tired of losing and are ready to see what the future has in store.
